BIOGRAPHY

Oualid Mouaness is an Oscar Shortlisted Lebanese director, writer and
producer. After receiving his MFA in film writing and directing, he started
out as a script reader and co-produced and edited ‘Kitchen Privileges’
(SXSW 2000). Mouaness headed Windmill Lane Productions, a
commercial and music video production company (2002-2005). In 2004,
he produced the documentary ‘Rize’ (Sundance 2005), followed by ‘Paris
Not France’ (TIFF2008).

Mouaness aims to bridge entertainment socially and politically relevant
issues through documentary and narrative films. Through Tricycle Logic
he produced Annie Lennox’s ‘Nostalgia’ (2015) for PBS (Emmy
Nomination 2015), and the Audience-Award-Winning documentary ‘I Am
Thalente’ (Los Angeles Film Festival 2015).

Mouaness directed several short films including ‘Saint in the Sun’ (2002-
US- NYIFF) and the Oscar 2017 Shortlisted acclaimed short film ‘The Rifle,
The Jackal, The Wolf and The Boy’ (2016-Lebanon). His first feature as a
director “1982” is currently in post-production. He has earned grant
support from the Doha Film Institute, the Organization International de la
Francophonie, and Sorfond among others. He is a Sundance Institute
fellow.
